Zometool Art sculpture for Denver Art Museum is installed.
In last month's bulletin, I shared about how much I enjoyed visiting the Zometool factory in Longmont, Colorado and helping Carlos Neumann, Paul Hildebrandt, Jim Hausmann and other Zometool enthusiasts a little with a lovely Zome sculpture that is now at the Denver Art Museum. Here's a photo (thanks to Paul for sending!) and 3 more on the blog post. Zometool is my favorite (hands down!) geometric toy, er, I mean modeling system.
Zometool - Platonic and Archimedean Solids and Sacred Geometry Design Sourcebook ... continued
Also in last month's bulletin, I shared an example photo of how Zometool is superb for making models (and so much more!) that appear in Sacred Geometry Design Sourcebook (SGDS). Zometool, with the addition of green struts, can build many of the designs both 2 and 3 dimensional that appear in the pages of SGDS and other 2D and 3D models. Now, more than ever, this superlative modeling system (which is also the coolest toy in the geometric Universe, in my opinion) is a fabulous complement to Sacred Geometry Design Sourcebook. The green struts allow for square root of 2 proportions relative to blue struts, which allow shapes like tetrahedra, octahedra, star tetrahedra, several more Archimedean Solids and MUCH more to be built. Amazing how adding another proportional system to the prior version seems to add many dimensions to the possibilities.
Here are examples of some of Zometool models that appear in the pages of Sacred Geometry Design Sourcebook. I'll be adding to these as I go on ... (read more...)
Here's a superb manual (pdf download) for ZomeTool experimenters/students: The Mathematics of Zome by Tom Davis

2) Websites, Books, Videos, Imagery, Music and Quotes
Professor Dutch's Symmetry Page has some interesting imagery on Symmetry, Crystals, Tilings and Polyhedra.Russ Kinter sent me this link to his interesing and well-illustrated article on The Platonic Solids Image of the Taijitu Yin-Yang Symbol.
Here are some wooden polyhedral lamps (e.g. The rhombicuboctahedron and the Zometool) you might enjoy.
Father Magnus Wenninger is a veteran polyhedra builder; here's his website.
Disappearing Dots: A Most Amazing Optical Illusion...according to modern physics, all of space time is an illusion, so this is sort of an illusion within an illusion; fun!
Thanks for all the suggestions and recommendations; always welcome! :-)
...Here are some other sacred geometry designs available as shirts, posters, note cards and more, such as Solar System Geometry Calendars.
