I will be a Presenter at the 2012 Froebel USA Conference, giving a Keynote (multimedia) presentation on The Geometry of Interconnectedness and Inclusion; here is a link to register. My presentation will be a 1-hour audiovisual talk among other presentations that weekend (schedule TBA) held at the South San Francisco Conference Center, SF, Calif. (map). I’m very much looking forward to this event (thanks to Scott Bultman for the invitation!) and will include some new imagery and insights not given publicly before in prior presentations.
Synchronistically, I was just talking with some neighbors yesterday about the Great Pyramid (at Giza, Egypt) and it reminded me of a speech I gave in a Rhetoric class at UC Davis (Calif.) where I referred to the Transamerica Pyramid, shown in the center of the skyline in the photo above. This latter pyramid is taller, but is dwarfed by the acreage and bulk of it’s Egyptian inspiration.

The Geometry Code book is ALMOST ready! Hooray!
Here’s the ‘back story’: About the time that I was finishing Sacred Geometry Design Sourcebook, I was already working on another book, which is now almost ready! Rather than reinvent the wheel, I think the Preface I wrote explains how the book came about, and gives a hint as to what it is about. I’ll upload the Table of Contents soon, too. A little ‘trivia aside’:
The Kybalion, a book about the seven Hermetic Laws, and one of the primary inspirations for this book, arrived a century ago in 1912 (at least that’s date in a copy of the book we have), so it just worked out that this book celebrates The Kybalion’s centennial anniversary! You can read the (relatively short) entire Kybalion book online here or download as a pdf here. Ever since I first read it, it seemed like it needed more examples, and depth and breadth with contemporary insights, so The Geometry Code book is my response to that idea. :-)
“Chrome Zome” jewelry still available … for Mother’s Day (or any occasion)!
Zometool Jewelry — featuring elegant chrome-plated Zome hubs — is STILL available … and ONLY here. Nancy (our resident jeweler) can make these earrings with the bottom (Swarovski 6mm) crystal in a variety of colors in addition to the pink (rose) and jet black varieties shown here, including clear, aqua, blue, light blue, midnight blue, teal, green, purple, amethyst purple, and other colors and variations. Each earring features the unique Zometool hub (12 pentagonal holes, 20 triangular holes and 30 golden rectangle holes) with a metallic chrome finish. Chains and earring hooks will vary with styles. … (read more…)

Playful Geometer’s Cosmic SpaceCrafts is a line of arts and crafts integrating Sacred Geometry into their 3D models.
Here are more examples of Playful Geometer’s artistry and a sample image:
Thanks to András, who alerted me (some months ago) to this interesting video of how triangular bits can drill square holes. Scroll down this page about the Reuleaux triangle to see a neat animation (The Reuleaux triangle rotating inside a square) showing a similar technique; note that the center of the bit must be offset from the center of the triangle for this to work.
I think I might have already (in prior bulletins) talked about Magnus Wenninger’s polyhedra and polytope models, but if you haven’t already seen this cornucopia of great models, it’s worth a look-see.
Wikipedia is such a great resource for all sorts of factual information about geometry, symbolism and more. Here are some example references (thanks to Alan Michelson):
Golden rectangle,
Truncated icosidodecahedron,
Truncated cuboctahedron,
Rhombicosidodecahedron,
Rhombicuboctahedron,
and, of course, there are gazillions more, even just perusing polyhedra in our provincial little 3-dimensional realm. :-)

Zometool sculpture at Denver Art Museum
We finally made it back to the Denver Art Museum (which easily deserves a couple of days to see the neat collection there) and made a bee-line for the newly installed Zometool creation in the downstairs lobby next to the gift store.
I wrote most recently about this geometric sculpture in this earlier blog post. It was fun to see this splendid geometric model in person! :-) The photos above show the sculpture face on (upper photo), and edge-on (lower photo).
Zometool is a great complement to, and ideal model building system for the designs in Sacred Geometry Design Sourcebook.
Jeff Volk – Cymatics and water presentation
Jeff Volk of CymaticSource – carrying on the pioneering Cymatics work of Hans Jenny – will give a live presentation on Cymatics and water at The Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts on Earth Day, Sunday, April 22, 2012.
Fellow geometer and engineer Adam Reed has worked with several others to develop an amazing instrument, the Cymaglyph which produces stunningly beautiful Cymatic imagery (both still and video) which the photos above represent.

Patterns in Nature is a lovely 8-minute audio-visual reverie in nature close-up photography; you’ll spot the abundant geometric metaphors and fractals, probably without having to look for them. (Produced and photographed by Trevor Barrett Music by Rob Whitesides-Woo, Music produced by Jim Moeller and Rob Whitesides-Woo)
Doug Craft’s Convergence of Photography, Collage and Music has a bit of retro eclectic art with a bit of golden proportions and fractals.
Adrian Rossiter has an updated version of his Antiprism Polyhedron Modelling Software which enables one to create, transform, analyze, and visualize polyhedra. Here are a few neat geometric models he’s made with his software.
Our original Sacred Geometry Tutorial page has a new Haitian Creole translation by Web Geek Science. If you know of other translations, or someone who would like to make one, please let me know.

Another example of using Zometool components to make the models in SGDS.
This is another image from the backlog of photos of how Zometool is a great complement to, and ideal model building system for the designs in Sacred Geometry Design Sourcebook. This image is a cutaway – mostly because I ran out of parts for this elaborate model :-) static version of this animation of the Nested Platonics Recursion, which is, as far as I know, the tightest packing of a recursive nest of the five Platonic Solids.

Here is a neat video of six rotations of a transparent tesseract. A tesseract (a.k.a. hypercube) is a 4-dimensional cube. I like to imagine that a 4-dimensional object casts a 3-dimensional shadow, just as a 3-dimensional object casts a 2-dimensional shadow. It’s still a bit boggling to grok, as our belief system only encompasses 3-dimensional dreams, so stretching our mental hologram to a 4-dimensional is usually met with resistance and confusion; how could we have another experience with such a finite premise! :-)
Speaking of backlogs, I have a goodly number of cool links to online videos, articles and more; so I ask for your patience, please. I’ll have lots more in the February edition. I’ve caught up on other projects this month. LOTS of great updates in store! :-)

Abydos, Egypt glyphs
Amazing that it’s been almost two decades since we photographed these unusual (to say the least) hieroglyphs in a lintel high above the floor of the ‘new’ temple (the one built over the top of the layer of the Osireion temple which features the famous “Flower of Life” and Seed of Life” designs) in Egypt. The lyrics to the song “When will we ever learn?” (Where have all the flowers gone) come to mind. Shall we close the patent office… again? :-)
