Annual Sacred Geometry Multimedia Contest – legacy page

Update: January 1, 2015: I’m keeping this page for historical reasons (and to not break links to the page), but as of today, I’m retiring this contest for a several reasons, (1) this page was evidently buried deep enough that not many people were finding it, and (2) accordingly, the number of submissions I was getting dwindled over the past few years, and (3) the contest prize (generously donated, in part, by Mika Feinberg of LightSource) no longer runs on some of the newer larger (and smaller) screen sizes. However, if you DO have interesting imagery, video or audio or links, etc. of interest that has been inspired by any of my interviews, books, blog posts, bulletins or anything else that appears on this site … or related to interconnectedness, sacred geometry and the like, please DO send links and your comments my way, and if appropriate, I’ll share with my readership. Many thanks to all that have participated in this contest from past years! :-)

I know that many of you have been using images and info from my Sacred Geometry Design Sourcebook for over a decade, because I get lots of interesting emails, letters, and examples of images as well as questions and ideas of projects you’re working on. Since a picture = 1 Kilo-word (or more :-), I wanna see pictures (and lots of them) inspired by my book with page number(s).

I’ve had dialogues with people from all over the world doing everything from stained glass to quilts to web graphics to architecture to tattoos to landscaping to kids toys to logos and much more. Although graphics are perhaps the easiest to relate, there’s lots of other media that I’m interested in seeing such as sculpture of all sorts as well as other 3D creations, animations, textile or mixed media, collage, acrylics, holography, and even music/sound design is fair game if it uses proportions from my bibliography. If you have a home-schooler project or other classroom exercise, or have written anything inspired by my book or websites and generally related to sacred geometry or the principle of interconnectedness, I’d love to see/hear it!

My intention is to show lots of examples of creativity that exemplifies how we’re all part of the same infinite fabric, related by principles that transcend space and time, yet are reflected in space and time. The contest is just to spur a little effort to send in your sacred-geometrically-inspired work.

PREFERENCES: In terms of submission, the easiest (1st preference) for me would be a URL linking to a page that shows off your work, in whatever media, with your comments about the work and perhaps a short bio about yourself and how your work relates to sacred geometry, and the relevant page(s) from my book. Next best would be to send me a jpg or two (please keep file size to about 1MB max) of your work, along with the same info as above in an email in text form. Least preferably you can postal mail me submissions to my postal address. All my contact info is here.

PRIZE: One GeometryCode screensaver/eBooklet (Mac or PC) download.

TIMING: Submissions required by Dec. 31, midnight Pacific Standard Time (email or postal mail received by then); I’ll announce the winner and provide a link to a page with appropriate “honorable mentions” online in January.

QUALIFICATIONS: Ever since I was a kid, I saw the contest rules on cereal boxes disqualifying employees and family. Since I don’t have any employees, that’s easy enough, and my family already has (my book and) screen saver, so they can submit entries, but won’t be eligible for the prize. Also, I reserve the right to not display any and all submissions on the website. :-) You must also agree to allow me to post your submission on my website(s); GeometryCode.com and/or BruceRawles.com (since I’ll be posting these on my blog as well).

About The Geometry Code screensaver, meditation tool and eBooklet

The recent popularity of videos such as “What The Bleep” and “The Secret” indicates that humankind is longing to remember and integrate the truths, laws, principles and wisdom that is Universal, Timeless, Eternal, Omnipresent, Unchanging, and Natural. Films like these begin to ask questions about these laws, and how we interact with them. As with many stories reaching mass public awareness, there are deeper understandings that we all have innately that transcend the public veneer. (See the disclaimer.)

The ancient Hermetic principles were said to be sealed except to those with eyes to see and ears to hear. The symbols chosen for this CD-ROM were inspired by a book called the Kybalion by the Three Initiates, originally published in 1912, an unassuming work that explains the Seven Natural (or Hermetic) Laws of Truth, attributed to the wisdom of ancient Egypt.

The seven symbols in the image above each represent one of these natural laws, which were stated as: Mentalism, Correspondence, Vibration, Polarity, Rhythm, Cause & Effect, and Generation or Gender. The meaning behind the symbols – the laws involved in every aspect of our lives – is what is most important; the symbols are merely placeholders, just as our physical lives represent the infinite, multidimensional nature of our souls. As magnificent and boggling as our physical bodies and this material Universe appear to be, they are but shadows of the even greater awe-inspiring reality of our meta-personal, holographic, multi-dimensional existence.

Our intent is to share, with both text and images, a reflection of the deeper understanding that exists within us all. This collection of animations and these accompanying words (in the eBooklet which is included with your digital download) are designed to be reminders of a philosophical system of alchemy we can apply to any situation, at any point in space or time. The alchemy we refer to is one of transmuting the base experiences of 3-D life on planet Earth into the golden understanding of the truth of our selves as co-creators with the infinite.

These symbols can act as signposts – mirrors of our awareness of interconnectedness – as we explore our own consciousness, recognize the interwoven context of inner and outer worlds, experience the amazingly diverse spectra of life, learn to transcend polarized thinking and feeling by allowing more compassion for ourselves and others, flow more effortlessly with the rhythms that life presents at every turn, become more adept at harnessing the stupendous fractal web of our individual and collective choices, and integrate the balancing lessons that come from grateful acknowledgment of the omnipresent creative wisdom in all life.

Gradient Wipe Transitions for Final Cut Pro

Our dear friend (and superb videographer/editor) Claudine Jordan generously donated a bit of her time to assemble a short video showing transition examples of how three of the HD patterns in my Geometric Gradient Wipe Patterns for Final Cut Pro can be used. She (and her colleague Tom Klodin) are in the midst of editing an amazing video featuring Leslie Smith, a young MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) fighter, which I knew nothing about prior to watching a rough draft of their fascinating documentary . The video shows how something as seemingly conflict-oriented as fighting, when practiced by someone whose focus is demonstrating compassion and interconnectedness can (once again) transcend form and reflect kind-spiritedness.

The excerpts from her documentary-in-progress show geometric (gradient wipe) transitions between clips of Leslie in Thailand, and adobe structures and panoramic landscapes of the desert southwest. Now (hopefully) those of you using Final Cut Pro who want to see how these transitions look with real video will have some examples to show how 3 of these transition patterns can be put to good use.

By the way, the reason these images are all gray-scale (no color) is that the wipe transition uses only the luminance (brightness) information in the image and not the chrominance (color) information. The Geometry Code book

In the autumn of 2006, I discovered the origins of the LightSOURCE screensaver that totally wowed me (and several hundred others) at the Global Sacred Geometry Conference in Sedona, Arizona in February 2004 (and ever since). LightSOURCE is a brilliant collection of animations by Mika Feinberg. I’m honored that several of the images on the LightSOURCE CD were originally inspired by the simple line art images from my Sacred Geometry Design Sourcebook (in particular pages 87, 88, 92, 94, 170, 195).Here are some static images that hint at the beauty of the full screen, smoothly morphing, exquisite animations of LightSOURCE … and an animated demo.

It turned out that Mika & I were both fans of each other’s work, so the dialogue that evolved led to the Geometry Code screensaver after numerous enthusiastic phone calls and emails. Since we completed our collaboration, both PC and Macintosh versions of LightSOURCE have been updated to the latest higher resolution technology to provide even more dazzling imagery than the original.

Mika’s sense of color and animation virtuosity encompasses a variety of related products. Among the others, my personal favorite is his Sacred Gaiametry which features some of the most inspiring crop formations. I find that these culture-independent patterns have a way of speaking to our inner sensibilities directly, bypassing the intellect and touching a more transpersonal awareness. Adding animation offers an even greater dimension to these universal archetypes, relating to us how our nature is intrinsically interwoven.

The Sacred Gaiametry – Codes of the Cosmos, LightSOURCE CD and DVDs with Hemi-Sync audio (which promotes synchronization of the left and right hemispheres of the brain) are all HIGHLY recommended; all are visually soothing and energizing at the same time.
